Please. Make it stop.

I'm sick of spirituality's "lesson" mentality.

I do know that soul growth is a thing and all but I noticed that when I process astrology and generally talk about spirituality especially when it's about interpersonal relationships, there's a sort of Godwin point kind of thing when there will inevitably be the word "lesson" thrown around.

Like people are just "meant to be catalysts" or "lessons". The publications like "I wanted this to be love, not a lesson", and the constant "you are here to learn lessons" and whatnot.

Lessons, lessons, lessons.

For fuck's sake, this is life, not a classroom. I'm so fucking sick of this vocabulary being thrown around. It's about as grating to me as the endless psychologizing of everything. It's like the 21st century can't just let things exist and has to label it all with some "coursework" attached to it. The people in your life are "catalysts", or "lessons", or "come and go because that's how things are meant to be", "there is an abundance of people"... you have "patterns", "attachment styles", "dysfunction", "disorders", "codependence", all of this... everything just feels like it's filtered through those lenses and I'm beyond fed up with it.

For God's sake being unable to focus on something you're not interested in is a symptom of ADHD apparently. I thought it was just your brain being smart and tuning out the things that are non-essential so it can focus better on what truly matters?

The best thing is that I have nowhere else to go since it's everywhere. It's yet another thing that forces me to stay in my own shell and I just... do not want that? It's bloody fucking hot in here, it's tight, it's lonely. But this is the world of today.

Sometimes I wonder if the whole "people come and go" thing and the spiritual bypassing with "catalysts" and "this person was meant to do x in your life for your own personal growth" isn't some cope for the fact that today, nobody seems to want to commit, whether it's in love or friendship. Every relationship seems to serve a function. It can't just exist "as-is".

It's either "love" or "a lesson". Why can't it be both, or why can't it be love even when it doesn't go as smoothly as we'd want?

21st century spirituality feels more and more like cope, pretending to be virtuous, or a marketing strategy that is based in individualism and self-help rather than truly growing as a person.

See the Law of Attraction. The biggest victim-blaming scheme in the entire world and a scam that many desperate and suffering people (including me at some point...) fall for. A get-rich-quick scheme that never works. If you fail or if you are in a difficult situation, it's because you didn't try hard enough, or you thought wrong, not because life can suck. Imagine telling that to someone who's currently in, say, Ukraine (because I'm pissed about the pseudo-pro Palestine assholes who keep harassing us with it, I'm not going to select Palestine, for real it's purely because I'm sick of hearing about it all the time). Or in another war-torn region of the world really.

See veganism, where you treat animals as if they think exactly like humans. There's a difference between not abusing animals that you will eventually consume because you're omnivorous vs. straight up saying they are enslaved and that there's an Animal Holocaust going on, or that not drinking milk is a feminist thing because cows are raped. Nice disrespect towards survivors of the actual one, and I bet many women would love being compared to cows.

See the whole crystal thing. For real crystals are beautiful. I used to have a big collection as a teen and while I gave most of it away, I got new ones at home, including a beautiful leaf-shaped labradorite that I dearly love. But are they truly healing? I always see new varieties of crystals popping up and I am thinking this is a scam. While perhaps the energies of the crystals can help with setting an atmosphere to a room or perhaps acting as a talisman, I think most of it is placebo.

See the traditional definitions of tarot. I do practice tarot, but I don't always rely solely on the card meanings. I see the orientation of the figures, the patterns of the numbers, the colours, too. I use a regular Rider-Waite-Smith as it's a pretty trusty one given how much it's been used. But someone who reads almost always adds the whole individualism thing to it. To say the cards are about the querent if they are asking about someone else is completely stupid because they... did not ask about themselves. If they are in a receptive or at least calm state, there's a reason why the cards that pop up, pop up.

Other things that I can't think about.

What I call true spirituality, and how I experience it, is noticing the patterns in life. Synchronicity. The narrative and magical moments in life. Those things that could be explained by chance, but how would chance just... spawn such extraordinary stuff? Especially multiple times?

It's about feeling the bonds you have with people, places, and animals. About not rationalizing straight on.

There are things that cannot be rationalized, hello Hopoe, but for example, how did I know my cat was going to be my cat, when at first, he was supposed to be taken by the then-child daughter of the stables owner who then changed her mind to take one of his sisters? How did the whole pearl thing with Hopoe work if it's purely "just a catalyst" or, on the other side of the coin, "pure chance"?

How is the team mostly composed of Sagittarius risings or Sagittarius moons, and I happen to also be a Sagittarius sun along with Cygnus?

How did I get a direct superior, Capella, who was born the very day after me, although we have a seventeen-year age gap?

How come that ten days after I got my patutiki from Tane, I finally exited my father's place?

How come Hera wears exactly the bridge between Hopoe and I, a white pearl on a silver chain?

To me that is true spirituality. This is not something you can really add rules to. This is not... marketable. It's internal, and it's personal. It holds truths about the world around us that you come to.

But if it's not marketable, I guess it's useless, isn't it?
