Yo you know who I found on the book? Yep. Those two. AND THEY HAVE A CAT.
I have no idea whether I'll encounter them again or even get the chance to get to know them better. But Big Willy genuinely gives me the feeling of a good guy. Big Kili has some cringe posts from 2011 that had me crack up, as well as a lot of stuff in Wallisian, but she doesn't appear to be any performative. She sounds relatively chill. No unicorns, no "sorry I'm perfect", no theatrics. Just posts about her kids for the most part, or wishing good on her family.
It feels like they are fucking adults and not a goddamn 13 year old stuck in the body of a 33... or a 40 year old. They act their age.
To think those two don't even know they were my comic relief. One because she looks like a bigger Hopoe from behind, and the other because I couldn't help but give him the silliest double-entendre nickname ever.
And he knows how to spell correctly. From a Tuamotu guy? Unusual AF, lol. But they both sound like the kind of people I'd like in my circle, if I had a chance to cross paths again. Their kids look genuinely like they're loved and happy. Guess it wasn't meant to happen while I was still at the base, but... hey. The community is small. Everyone knows someone who knows someone, and with some luck, there's going to be a shared meal at a festival, and all of a sudden one of us might say, hey, your face... you remind me of someone I can't quite put my finger on.
But the cat? Green flag. People who have cats are a greener flag to me than dogs, even if it doesn't really exactly always... translate well. You can have a cat and be an asshole. But I still do notice I feel safer around cat people than dog people.
I love sleuthing around like that, honestly. This is why I have social media, not gonna lie. It's so I can, well. Creep on people secretly, do absolutely nada with the information other than kind of get to know whatever they are posting about and learning about them, and then, if we ever talk, pretend I know next to nothing about them. :)))
