Cheerleading (and a bunch of new names)

Today there was a sports event in which some of my team members participated. Crazy given the heatwave, but army be army.

Given that I wanted an excuse not to be sitting at my desk, I went to cheer them on with some others, among them Patty, Blue, Hera, Colonel Leo (yes, new character, he's basically the head of the whole service, even above Hera and another recently promoted colonel, who I will name Janus, as he's very soft but given he can command an entire brigade, I bet he's got a very un-soft side to himself!), other colleagues I may later name, and myself. Some came later to cheer, like Theodora. Others, like Esme, straight up didn't care and didn't go. But me? Just some excuse to go, really.

Among our (all-female) participants were chief warrant officer Vega, a lovely lady who physically reminds me of a high school friend and also happens to share a moon sign with me, her direct colleague warrant officer Sagitta, who is a mom nearing her 50s but you would think is much younger due to her spunk, the master corporal I don't like much but still cheered on, and a first sergeant I will not yet name, but who is quiet and gives off a really sweet vibe.

Capella should've taken part in this. Her shirt is still on her desk, untouched, the tag not even removed. I learned her daughter is now throwing up and could be referred to blood tests. I'm tempted to text her, but... that's her daughter, and I mean, how do I know I'm not overstepping? Last time she texted me it was for me. It was because I had this accident. But... here it's about her daughter, so...

I came across Austral, who was cheering for the few of the team that were in here, as well as Jolene and Chin. Libra and Megara were competing in the event. They were too focused on their effort to see me cheering them on, but I hope it reached them. Cepheus and Cassiopeia were arbiters. I got to talk to him only: she was at a sort of shooting range with no bullets. A few others came to support: Cetus, Gill, and others I didn't see, but not Hopoe. I didn't have a chance to go up to them and talk to them: by the time I would have had an opportunity, they were gone.

Cepheus stepped away from his spot and talked to me for a bit. I got to tell him about what happened a week ago. The shelf, the near-death incident... and the pearl.

My voice was shaking. He thought it was good that the pearl survived. I don't know if he realizes, or remembers, where that pearl came from. Perhaps he didn't know Hopoe had brought back stuff from Tahiti. But for sure, he does know that this pearl is very important to me.

It turns out they're also moving things around. The office of Austral, Bootes and Virgo will close down, probably to accomodate new people, and the service will be reorganized, though still in the same area. They're not changing buildings.

I asked, even if Austral said a while ago that nobody was being transferred away, if there would be any I would say goodbye to.

Again, thankfully, Austral did not make a mistake: nobody is going away. Bootes is going to another service if I recall correctly... Gill is getting transferred to the first floor in a different service (I will always make a point to pass by his office now!) and so is Chin, though I don't remember exactly where. But Chin is more of a secondary member to me, if you will.

A new team member will replace Gill in Megara and Chin's office (which will likely have Austral in it now? Or Virgo?). A woman who is being transferred from another affectation. Learned her name, but I don't think I know her from anywhere. Given that I will meet her eventually, she will likely be known by a constellation name, unless we don't connect at all.

I mean if even Virgo could get a name after a whole ass year... she might?

The damn thing is so physically intensive that I wonder how nobody has passed out yet. There was an ambulance ready near the gymnasium if anything went wrong, but apparently nobody was in trouble. Damn. To think I was already overheating just cheering people on. Blue was taking photos and filming. I'm probably on some of them.

If I'm being honest, I don't quite know how to cheer people on. I feel stupid when I go "GO GO GOOOO" and act all jolly. My way of cheering is "Come on, hang in there", hold my fist up, my biceps folded, and watch, tell them that it's almost over, to bring their determination to the table.

One thing though caught my attention: one of the participants reminds me a LOT of someone from Hokulea's group. Small, ginger with very long hair... it's strange, but I think it's her. I know her name, but I have never spoken to her yet. Eventually I might, if I can join Hokulea's school and am not getting transferred or need to go for any reason, but yeah. Might be that somewhere in those quarters, I'm already, without knowing it, in the vicinity of a future fellow dancer.

I accidentally found Hokulea's profile looking for the ginger girl. I learned that she's 33 (actually got her age right! I had thought late 20s, early 30s!), is married to a man, and her early pictures really still give me a huge... vibe, not to mention her name, her actual one... is a traditionally male name. Not that it never happens that sometimes a woman's got a dude's name. She's known by a shortened version of it but still. Even if she's biologically female which I guess is still a possibility,...

I think part of what fascinates me about her is this kind of gender fluidity and the mystery of... this. I'm the type to absolutely hate the wokes yet when it's someone who lives through a culturally embedded version of ambiguous gender identity... it does not irritate me at all. But when it's your regular fat white bitch with blue hair, piercings and barely any other personality than who she fucks and what causes she supports online, who claims to be "non-binary" or "trans"... not saying there aren't real trans people in the West, but you can tell I've had my fair share of idiots online who give the genuine ones a bad name.

In her private Insta bio, travel stuff, and "business"... good thing this is going to be "just" my teacher. I just hate those kinds of bio. The whole "business" thing in general... dislike the mentality. Still doesn't mean she wouldn't be a good dance teacher. Either way this is where I'm going if I can stay here.

In short: how looking for the mysterious ginger led me to a whole ass investigation about my possible future dance teacher. Typical Hi'iaka, investigating left and right... without anyone ever knowing. Lol.
