The association I've been looking into in the south starts its classes on September 1. I feel the window closing. No news from Hokulea's group yet. That said, I've sent an email to the air force base and they replied to me, saying that they did receive my application and would give me a reply in the best delays possible.
But since there's no guarantee I could even be hired, I wonder if... I shouldn't go back south. For now, at least. Just so I can be sure to start dancing... and not have to leave immediately after.
The teacher from the southern association, who I'll name Hikianalia (even if I were not to end up in her group, I still hold this possibility), from what I can gather about her, is a Mormon missionary. Married to what appears to be a Frenchman. Has a four-year-old son. She definitely gives me a different vibe than Hokulea does. Hokulea is full of fire, almost dramatic, Hikianalia on the other hand would give me an earthier vibe. I don't know her age, but it appears she was in middle school in 2012 (which would make her not that much older than me). She opened her dance school in 2022. Hokulea, on the other hand, opened hers in April of 2025.
Hikianalia is the Hawaiian name for the star Spica (α Virginis), which rises together with Arcturus (Hōkūle'a). It's also the name of the sister ship to the vaka Hokulea, built much later but serving as its escort. Haven't found the proper etymology for the name itself, but it likely means "the st It's pretty nice that there are two stars rising over the horizon in Hawaii, because that's exactly what I need when I'm in between two paths like that.
